McMaster University: “Office of the Vice-President, Research Welcomes new manager Research Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence” (EDIE)

“The Office of the Vice-President, Research (OVPR) is pleased to announce that Emmanuel Songsore has joined the OVPR as Manager, Research Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence (EDIE).”

“Songsore will lead the implementation of McMaster’s equity and diversity initiatives as they pertain to research and commercialization…”

The second quote mentions commercialization, a topic of controversy within the academy to which I’ll return in upcoming posts. The business case for EDI is a strong driver of its implementation in research funding, but some worry its a vehicle for ideological orthodoxy.
